Lionel Messi to Return to Barcelona Training on Monday as Fans Protest at Camp Nou

Image
Lionel Messi is set to return to Barcelona training on Monday, while a group of protesting fans have descended on Camp Nou to confront president Josep Bartomeu over his involvement in the ordeal. Supposed quotes attributed to Messi have also started to circulate online stating his time in Catalonia "is over", though the legitimacy of such quotes have been questioned. What we do know is Messi has communicated to Barcelona that that he would like his contract to be terminated, and that he's allowed to leave this summer. The formal request to leave came on Tuesday, with a lack of belief in the sporting project and a desperately fractured relationship with those that run the club being among the primary reasons for his decision. Another fake document circulated online earlier on Wednesday claiming to be a copy what Messi sent to the club to announce his decision, with the constant media storm surrounding his future coughing up all manner of apparent 'updates' since ne

West Ham Inform Star Trio They Are Free to Leave This Summer

Exclusive   - West Ham have told top earners Manuel Lanzini, Felipe Anderson and Sebastien Haller that they are free to   leave   the club this summer as concerns grow over the financial impact of the coronavirus. The Hammers only just escaped relegation from the Premier League in 2019/20, finishing the season in 16th place. David Moyes' men did finish the campaign strongly, however, losing just once in their final seven league games. West Ham  were expected to back Moyes - who took over back in December - in the transfer market this summer as he looks to strengthen his squad, and a source has told  90min  that this remains the case. However, in order for this to happen, departures are required. The club's hierarchy remain fearful about the financial impact of the pandemic. As a club that benefits a great deal from matchday income, the Hammers have been badly impacted. 90min  has learned that West Ham plan on easing financial concerns by offloading some of the top earners and w

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Admits He Has 'Difficult' Decision to Make Over Man Utd Goalkeepers

Image
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confessed that he is yet to decide what to do about the club's goalkeeper conundrum this summer. David de Gea has been the undisputed starter this season - with Sergio Romero as backup - but with the Spaniard's form dipping on a number of occasions, there have been calls for young Dean Henderson to step into the first team now that he has returned from his impressive loan spell with Sheffield United. De Gea has endured a challenging year United want to tie Henderson down to a new contract, but the 23-year-old is reluctant to do so if he is not guaranteed a starting role at Old Trafford - and Solskjaer confessed (via  Goal ) that he has some thinking to do ahead of the new season. “I think I must be the most privileged manager in the world with the goalkeeping department I have with Sergio, David and we’ve got Dean Henderson coming back too,” Solskjaer said. “We have three top, top keepers. Fulham Win Promotion to the Premier League After Victory in Championship Play-Off Final

Image
Fulham have won promotion to the Premier League after a 2-1 victory over Brentford, sealed by Joe Bryan's extra time double. In a contest billed as the richest game in world football, both sides were unable to find their fluent best - with pre-match hopes of a goal fest soon dashed by some stoic, impressive defending. But in the end, Fulham's   quality told as Bryan struck   twice - first catching out Bees goalkeeper David Raya at his near post with a long-range free kick, before converting a neat one-two with Aleksandar Mitrovic - to deservedly take the Cottagers   up into the top flight, condemning Brentford   to another season in the Championship. Brentford did strike with almost the last kick of the game, as Henrik Dalsgaard nodded in - but it was too little, too late for Thomas Frank's side. Promotion caps a memorable season for  Fulham , who have bounced back at the first time of asking after enduring relegation last season. Scott Parker's first full season in cha

Antonio Conte Tipped to Leave Inter With Massimiliano Allegri in 'Pole Position'

Image
Reports in Italy suggest  Inter  are likely to part ways with Antonio Conte this summer, with former  Juventus  coach Massimiliano Allegri lined up as a potential replacement. Conte's Inter finished the  Serie A  season with a 2-0 win over Atalanta, ending the campaign just a point behind champions  Juve. The standings fail to tell the full story, however: their title chances had realistically collapsed before lockdown, and they sat seven points behind Juve a week ago, at the point Maurizio Sarri's team secured the league for a ninth straight season. Since arriving in the summer, Conte has spent more than £170m on new signings, but has nonetheless been openly critical of the Inter board. CEO Beppe Marotta was forced to publicly distance himself from Conte's comments in the wake of the Atalanta win, which took aim at president Steven Zhang, claiming that he had been given 'no protection' from those above him. These claims look to have crossed a line with the  Inter h
