Busquets announce an emotional farewell after La Liga championship

After clinching the La Liga title, Barcelona’s outgoing captain Sergio Busquets conveyed an emotional message to his team.

Xavi’s team has wrapped up their first league title win since 2019 with four matches still remaining, while Busquets prepares for the end of his Barcelona career.

When his contract expires in June, the veteran midfielder confirmed his decision to leave the club, creating a void in Xavi’s team after 15 seasons in the first team.

However, Busquets has provided reassurance to fans regarding the positive prospects for the future, hinting at a potential return to the club at some point.

Busquets will leave Barcelona after 15 years at the end of the season

Busquets wrote: “The foundations of a team of champions has been laid. It’s very difficult to win titles.

“I wanted to leave winning an important title like La Liga.

“I’m very happy to leave like this. I’ve been here for many years, with records and titles, and I’m happy to go out like this.

“But, I will see you soon!

Additionally, Busquets condemned the ugly scenes at the end of the match, as the Espanyol ultras’ security breach forced the Barcelona players to flee the pitch at RCDE Stadium.
